Chinese Developer Unveils Replica of Austrian Hamlet

It is one of the most bizarrely intriguing city planning/architectural projects I’ve ever heard of. Minmetals Land Inc. has replicated Hallstatt, a quaint Austrian alpine hamlet, in subtropical southern China. Same buildings. Same hotels. Same everything. Some in Hallstatt were disappointed their permission was not sought but others seem relatively honored by what they are viewing as a celebration of their picturesque community. Either way one wonders if we won’t soon be seeing a Mont St. Michel in Ohio or Bourbon Street in Vietnam.
