App Report: Sustainability apps

Wr-app-ing up my contributions to Sustainability Week here at Nokia Connects, here’s your weekly dose of App goodness – unsurprisingly centred on all things green.

My N8 running Climate Mission

First stop for anyone looking for eco-friendly and sustainable apps is, of course, Nokia’s Green Channel. There you can find gems such as Climate Mission – a chance to test your ecological knowledge and at the same time learn more about climate change.

Another useful addition to your app list is Recycle Map, letting everyone know where and how often you get to the recycling centre, and what you take with you when you do. Useful for others in your social network to find out where to recycle tricky items like electrical goods. I wish I had known about this when I was lugging around my old computer.

My final selection from the Green Channel is the app simply called Climate Change. Does exactly what you think it would, giving all the facts you need, and helping you with tips on how to lessen your impact on the environment.

Moving over to the Marketplace, I found the app for Sustainablog (‘one of the longest-running green blogs on the web’) to be informative and also interesting, I’ll be using it to stay up to date in future.

What’s your favourite app for keeping green? Got any that I missed? Let me know in the comments, or on Twitter.
