Here’s the summary of my (Alex’s) personal highlights…
The Microsoft Digital Lounge
This year, Microsoft Advertising have been lucky enough to land themselves a great position for creatives looking for a breather. The lounge contains all the latest high-tech offerings from Microsoft – from Skype computers for those far from home, to the Xbox Kinect with the latest games. Oh, did I mention that the Nokia Gift Machine is there as well? It’s already made a big impression, becoming one of the most tweeted about locations on the hashtag #CannesLions!
Check out Microsoft Advertising’s video of the lounge and our very own Gift Machine.
Junior Worldmakers – What Can 3 Kids Teach You About Creativity?
For those in the know, one of the stand out sessions on Monday was the Junior Worldmakers talk featuring Caine Monroy from Caine’s Arcade, as well as other young entrepreneurs Jordan Casey + Adora Svitak. ‘Inspirational’ falls short of summarising their contribution to Cannes – these are young kids who are doing what they love and are truly dedicated to their cause. You can see a lot of the content here courtesy of our new friend Damon Webster.
2NE1
We called this one – even if I wasn’t expecting how big it was. 2NE1, the K-pop girl group mentioned in Sunday’s post, took Cannes by storm; Fans crowded outside the Cannes Lions Palais chanting their name in the hope of getting a glimpse of the kitsch Korean celebrities. Here they are in their droves:
Microsoft Beach Party
Definitely one of the most sought after parties at Cannes. With a stellar line up of Mark Ronson performing with Erykah Badu and The Meters legend Ziggy Modeliste, an exclusive guestlist of Cannes attendees witnessed one of the best nights down on the beach.
But it’s far from over; Cannes rolls on tonight with the highly anticipated speech by former president Bill Clinton and another 3 days of creative greatness. If you’re at the festival and you’ve seen something amazing, drop a tweet to @Nokia_Connects and we’ll be sure to show it off here!
