If you want quick and easy access to your favourite local and international news sources then the latest version of Nokia Reader for Series 40 devices could be just the thing you’re waiting for.

The Nokia Reader app, which is available in beta, brings updated news to your phone without sacrificing battery life thanks to Nokia Notifications, which only uses your data connection when it is absolutely required – much of the hard work is done on the back-end servers.

You can select from your favourite news sources in the online directory of major news organisations, which is based on your location. If you live in a major city then you’ll probably even be able to choose a news provider specific to your hometown.

Nokia Reader can be added to your home screen (see instructions on how to do this) and then with just a couple of clicks you can be reading the stories in the Nokia Xpress Browser.

One of the great features of Nokia Reader is that your articles are stored in a cloud and based on your Nokia account. This means that if you switch to another Series 40 device, than you can still access all your articles on the new device.

Nokia Reader for Series 40 is now available for you to download and try in Nokia Beta Labs. It’s available for Series 40 devices and has been tested to work with Nokia C2-02, Nokia X3-02, Nokia C3-01, Nokia Asha 303 and Nokia Asha 300.

As with all beta apps, the Nokia Reader is still in development, so remember to update the team with your observations and tell them what you liked and didn’t like about the app.
