Not if you’re ready to unleash your creative potential. Nokia and legendary snowboarding company Burton have recently teamed up to offer this fantastic prize to two lucky individuals ready to do just that.

The rules

All you need do, to join us at the Burton US Opening Snowboarding Championship, is submit a short film (2 mins max), photographs or artwork inspired by the subculture and lifestyle of snowboarding, on or off the slopes. You can get your inspiration from their music, fashion, artwork or culture. To help you get involved, we’ve put together some top tips.

First off where to go to get inspiration

If you can’t hit the slope or hang out with a bunch of shredders, there’s a ton of places online that will give you a taster of their lifestyle.

 Gone Boarding – The online hangout

This is the UK’s number one online community of like-minded shred heads featuring a discussion forum, photo gallery, videos, snow reports, and all sort of other useful info. It’s the perfect place to start.

The Reason – The cool magazine

Arguably the best looking snowboarding magazine in print today… not to mention a damn fine site as well! The Reason showcases some of the finest UK talent in terms of shredding, photography, and writing.

Snowbroader – The action packed blog 

A European site where you can read blogs from shredders (bro blogs) as well as blogs from pro riders (pro blogs), definitely worth a look!

Mpora- The amazing video site

The YouTube of the action sports world. On you can find a huge stash of shred clips for both snowboarding and skiing, alongside loads of other action sports clips. Guaranteed to get you stoked!

How to take awesome snowboarding pics

If it’s photos you’re going for and you plan on taking them on the slope, then you’re in luck. Our photography guru, Adam Monaghan, has put together some top tips for taking awesome snowboarding shots. And if you have any questions for him, pop them in the comments and we’ll get him on the case.

Let’s face it, most us don’t have a film crew handy to shoot a top quality movie. However, more and more of us do have a good enough mobile to capture some really cool video. As for art, there’s really nothing more you need than your imagination.
