MakerBot465

You only have to look at Nokia’s history to see that personalizing technology is in our DNA. Starting in the mid 90s with exchangeable shells, we’ve always believed you should have the chance to showcase your individualism. Now, we’re happy to announce, we’re working with MakerBot to take customization to a whole new level.

The 3D printing maestros

When it comes to 3D printing there’s no better company on the planet to partner with than MakerBot. Not only are they experts in their field, but they create amazing technology. Their Thingverse Customizer, launched last month, has been especially designed to let users customize 3D designs right inside their browser. This means you no longer have to be a designer to create cool 3D designs and prints.

Ready for a swell shell?

This is very good news for owners of the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 520. Why? Because as of today, they’ll have the chance to create their very own shells. The exchangeable shells on these two phones offer amazing possibilities for people’s creativity. We already provided MakerBot with the specs for the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 520, enabling them to optimize them for printing on a MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer.  With the customizer it’s even easier. All you have to do is choose the design. Then add any word and bang you have your custom shell.

Now that Nokia Lumia 3D printing files are available on MakerBot’s Thingiverse.com and optimized for customization through the MakerBot Thingiverse Customizer, the options are only limited by your imagination. To get started all you have to do is go to Thingverse and get hold of a creative license!

Imagine, create, love

By contributing the 3DK for the Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 520 covers and working with MakerBot to make 3D printing affordable, we hope to not only accelerate the development of an exciting new technology, but also inspire people’s creativity.

So, the question is, what sort of shell will you make today?
