In July Nokia commissioned Bruce Weber and David Bailey, two of the world’s leading fashion and lifestyle photographers, to use the Nokia Lumia 1020 and capture their interpretation of “an intimate human in a distant world”.
Weber and Bailey are close friends, but they never had the chance to collaborate during a photoshoot together until now. And Weber hadn’t even used a digital camera for work before.
“I don’t do digital and this is the first time I have really gone out in the world and done like a digital sitting. I was impressed with the resolution and the beauty of the colour,” Weber said.
“The Nokia Lumia 1020 helps you capture the moment, which is the most important thing,” Bailey said.
The two chose New York’s Harlem as their destination. Over the course of 24 hours, they visited iconic sites where they could bring their unique perspective to life with the world’s best smartphone camera.
Nokia has today released nearly 60 photos from the pair’s Harlem photoshoot, which demonstrates the power of the Nokia Lumia 1020 to help people easily capture the moment in unrivalled detail.
The London exhibition, entitled “Weber X Bailey by Nokia Lumia 1020” will run until 21 September at the Nicholls & Clark Building in Shoreditch, East London and is free to attend.
If you can’t make it to the show, have a look at the sample of images taken by Bailey and Weber below, and prepare to say “Wow!” over and over again.
