Singing along to our favourite songs is something we all like to do. Whether we’re in the shower, the car, or standing in front of a group of people in a karaoke bar on a Friday night; it can be an enjoyable pastime.

Singster is a karaoke app that scores your singing abilities and enables you to record and upload a cover version to the Singster community and the wider Internet community.

Singster currently offers 1,300 ‘classic karaoke hits’, which means you can sing along to songs like Mustang Sally by The Commitments, or Angels by Robbie Williams.

However, if you prefer to sing something a little less shouty, you may want to try Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel, or Someone Like You by Adele.

Each song you sing will be recorded by your Lumia’s front-facing camera, while the lyrics are fed to you on the phone’s screen. In addition to seeing yourself singing, a progress line moves across the screen helping you out with the timing as it passes over blue bars that represent the different words, each at a different height to reflect the note changes.

If you’re singing in tune and on time, you’ll be rewarded with points that will be added to your song score on the top left of the screen.

Once you’ve played back the song and are happy with the results, upload it to the community where people can give you likes and even comment on your performance.

If you’re exceptionally proud of your rendition, you can also share it to your Facebook account.

For beginners, or for people who may feel a little intimidated by sharing songs with others, there’s a free version that gives you access to 10 free songs.
