What do Nokia, Social Media Week and the much-loved game air hockey have in common? Not much, you might think. Well, you’re in for a surprise, because this year Nokia has launched quite possibly the world’s first Twitter based online air hockey game, Nokia Puck.
Hockey’s in the air
Air hockey’s been around for a while. In fact, it was invented over forty years ago by a bunch of engineers from Brunswick, Illinois. The game was such a success that within a year the first Air Hockey Association kicked off. Five years later there was the first of the now firmly established World Championships.
Face off. Play on.
At Social Media Week 13, an event sponsored by Nokia, which spans six continents and takes place in over 25 cities, Nokia has taken the air-tastic game digital. Nokia Puck is a cool experiment, which allows people to go head to head from anywhere in the world. Using the latest HTML5 technology, players simply have to sign in with their Twitter account and can challenge a friend or find an opponent online.
