Diwali celebrations with the Nokia Lumia 1020

This weekend saw the finale of five days of Diwali celebrations for those of the Hindu faith and we are excited to show you some stunning images from Diwali celebrations across India this weekend – all captured on a Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone.

Diwali or the ‘Festival of Lights’ is one of the most important annual celebrations for Hindus and marks several key events in the history of the religion – including the return of Hindu god Rama after 14 years of exile. The festival of Diwali in general celebrates the victory of good over evil but is also a reminder of the value of relationships.

Diwali is celebrated in many countries across the globe, with India home to one of the world’s biggest Hindu populations. So we provided three renowned Indian photographers Sanjeev Bhambri, Suresh Lula and Parveez Ahmed with our Lumia 1020 and challenged them to capture the best images of the festival taking place in the Indian cities of Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai – at the same time making best use of the Lumia 1020’s great features.

The colourful, vibrant Festival of Lights is a great way to demonstrate how the Lumia 1020 allows you to take amazing shots in any lighting situation. The Xenon flash, back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor and second generation optical image stabilisation (OIS) makes the Lumia 1020 the perfect tool for capturing these amazing shots from the weekend’s festivities.

Check out the pictures in the gallery above and let us know your favourites. Happy Diwali!
