Announcing the Winner of the Surface Remix Project

Back in October we teamed up with Indaba Music to launch the Linkin Park and Steve Aoki “A LIGHT THAT NEVER COMES” remix contest. Over 1,400 remixes were created and submitted representing a huge range of creativity.  We were all blown away by the number of talented producers on Indaba. After hours of listening by all of the judges including Linkin Park, Steve Aoki and the team over at Xbox Music, the winners were chosen.

Brian Yates, the Grand Prize Winner, is the lucky recipient of $2,500, a Surface Pro 2 along with the Surface Music Kit by Microsoft, a premiere release on Xbox Music and will be included on an upcoming Linkin Park Ep. Not too shabby! The five Runners Up, Alec Raniwsky, John Doe, Harel Tsemah, DJ ALTOMANI and Freddie Westburn will each take home $500 and a Surface 2, also accompanied by the Surface Music Kit by Microsoft. We also had three winners that received the most popular votes and so 22Bullets, SKITARA and Syra Producer will all be awarded Pro Memberships on Indaba Music.

Check out the winning remix from Brian Yates below:

“I’ve always been a big fan of Linkin Park ever since I first heard Hybrid Theory over a decade ago, so I was pretty excited to be able to remix one of their tracks.” – Brian Yates

This contest was great fun, so thank you to everyone who participated. These were killer remixes all around, I can’t wait to see what’s next!

If you’re disappointed at having missed the last contest, enter the next Surface #RemixProject contest now at Indaba Music featuring The Hives. There is still time, the contest ends on December 17th. Also be sure to keep a look out for more contests to come in 2014!
