Asha app spotlight: PicTag

Organise your Nokia Asha-taken snaps with this handy photo-tagging app.

The Nokia Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502 and Asha 503 all offer the ability to store thousands of photographs on a MicroSD card; a dream for taking and sharing images, but a potential nightmare when you want to keep tabs on them all.

PicTag‘s premise is to let you add searchable text tags to all of your photographs, allowing you to group your images by album and find specific shots using the integrated search tool.

One of the things we love the most about PicTag is how easy it is to use from the get go – just launch the app and it’ll quickly locate and display all your photographs.

Two tabs at the bottom of the screen perform a brace of simple tasks – one takes you back to your photographs, the second takes you to the search page.

Tag multiple photographs

To add a tag to a photograph, just tap it and type what you want to label it as. To tag multiple photos simultaneously, effectively creating a photo album, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and press ‘Select images’. If you’ve already created tags, you’ll be presented with a list to choose from and associate your new crop with.

Got a lengthy tag list? No problem, just perform a text search to find your required tag. Once found, tap it and thumbnails for all photographs with that tag will appear.

PicTag is one of those apps that goes beyond being nice to own. If you love photography or just love sharing snaps on your Nokia Asha, it’s an essential app.
