Lumia 1020 goes pop with Anton Ewald

How the Nokia Lumia 1020 helped a Swedish pop star visualise his new hit song.

Anton Ewald is a Swedish artist and dancer who had his big break with the song “Begging” in the Swedish qualifying round of the Eurovision Song Contest last year. The single has clocked up more than 16 million streams on Spotify and sold triple Platinum in Sweden.

In the video for his newly released single, “Close Up”, Anton employs the skills of the Nokia Lumia 1020.

“When I tried out the Lumia 1020 for the first time, the feature that really stuck with me was the zooming features. It was cool to see that you could take a photo from a long, long distance and then zoom in so that it more or less looked like the motive had been standing right next to you. That’s when the phrase “Girl, I wanna zoom in on you” really made sense to me”, Anton says.

In the video, Anton uses the Lumia 1020 to capture the girl of his dreams in the camera roll. But since she is more or less impossible to get, he really needs to take advantage of the zooming features of the device.

In his home country Sweden, the video gained more than 60,000 views in its first month and a half. It has also been played on music TV shows in Germany, Austria, England and the USA.

Anton is also a keen social networker, with more than 200,000 followers on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

“I’ve always appreciated being active online since it offers a direct contact with my fans. And I especially enjoy taking photos and sharing them. That was the reason I wanted to try the Lumia 1020 in the first place, because I’ve heard great stuff about the camera. Now I use it to capture things in my life and share them with my fans on Instagram.”

This weekend, Anton will compete in the final of the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest.

“Of course, I’m going for the win and I aim to be the one representing Sweden in the big European final. Now, it’s time for the world to “zoom in on me”, he says.

Good luck.
