A date with the Windows Phone 8.1 calendar for Lumia

One of the many improvements that Windows Phone 8.1 brings to Nokia Lumia is an improved calendar.

The redesign now launches directly into a new week view, rather than the agenda as per previous versions.

This new look gives you greater visibility over a week’s events on a single screen. A mini monthly calendar now resides in the corner.

By panning left or right you’re taken to a weekly view of events that have already passed or will occur in the upcoming future.

Much like Outlook’s web calendar, your new Nokia Lumia with Windows 8.1 now includes the local weather, giving you a quick forecast for the day or rest of the week.

While the main screen shows you simple details of what and when, tapping on any calendar entry will present an exploded view of the finer details, all the while maintaining that same week view.

Of course, there’s the option to customise the calendar view based on your preferences; day, month, or year whenever you like.

The new and improved calendar will be available on the new Nokia Lumia 630, Lumia 635 and 930 from launch. Any current Nokia Lumia running Windows Phone 8 will receive an over-the-air update to Windows Phone 8.1 – starting this summer.
