Must-have Nokia Asha software update begins rollout today

If you’ve got a Nokia Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502, Asha 503 or Asha 230, keep your eyes peeled for an important push notification informing you of great new update.

When we say great, we really mean it. This essential new upgrade is about to re-energise your Nokia Asha, for free!

Music to your ears

Turn on and tune in to enjoy music from your favourite bands or artists with Nokia MixRadio*- the free, personalised music streaming service, giving you access to millions of tracks.

With the ability to create your own mixes based on your favourite artists, you’ll be able to listen to your much-loved songs until your heart’s content.

Mixes can be either streamed through a data connection** or downloaded and stored on your phone for your listening pleasure whenever you’re offline.

A better camera

Taking photos just got more exciting, thanks to new imaging enhancements in the Asha update.

We’re all guilty of the odd selfie but, thankfully, taking them has got a whole lot easier thanks to the voice-guided self-portrait feature.

No more guessing if your face is in shot, just turn your phone around, face the camera and listen as your Asha guides you left, right, up or down. You’ll be taking selfies like a Hollywood/Bollywood pro in no time.

If you prefer to take a photo of the wider world, a panorama feature has been added to the mix. Capturing life’s moments in video is much smoother too, thanks to improved video stabilisation.

In the clouds

What’s more, with this latest update, your Nokia Asha will be able to automatically (or manually) upload them** to your Microsoft OneDrive. There’s 7GB of free online storage waiting for you to fill, right now.

Storing your photos in the cloud has many benefits; you can save more photos; those photos are safe and you can access and share them any time you like.

Life in a more social Fastlane

The Fastlane that Nokia Asha owners have already fallen in love with has just got even better. Fastlane now brings you closer to all of your friends in your social networks.

Re-tweets and Facebook likes now pop up in Fastlane, as do friends’ birthdays. No more ‘sorry I forgot your card again…’ There’s no excuse now!

Parental control

Whether you’ve bought a phone for a younger family member, or someone’s always borrowing it, the new parental controls are vital.

Using a special password or PIN code you can control the browser and Store access, putting a stop to unwanted downloads or unexpectedly high data charges.

As we speak (write), the free Nokia Asha software update is starting to make its way to devices around the world as an over-the-air (OTA) update.

Phones being updated are the Nokia Asha 500, Asha 501, Asha 502, Asha 503 and Asha 230, both single and Dual SIM variants.

If you’ve not already received a push notification informing you of the update, navigate to Settings > Phone Update on your device – you should start to see it soon. Need further help with the update? See here.
