The Transformation Challenge – A Partnership drawn together with deviantART, Vice, Motherboard + Surface
I am personally very excited about partnering with Vice and deviantART. Many of you know Vice for its raw reporting on cultural, political, and social justice issues. You may remember some of our earlier work together when we introduced you to Christy Karakas and Marc Kushner. I have always admired Vice for their ability to tell the story of people that are having an impact on our world. Especially within their site Motherboard, where they travel the world to uncover the stories that will define what’s coming next in new technologies, in culture, and in art with in-depth blogging, long-form reporting, and video journalism.
Similarly, deviantART is the center of the online art community showcasing various forms of user-made artwork. deviantART was created to entertain, inspire, and empower the artist in all of us. deviantART is the largest online social network for artists and art enthusiasts with over 31 million members. Over the next few months you are going to see a lot more about our partnership right here, on this blog, and on Motherboard and deviantART.
To kick things off, I want to introduce you to the Transformation Challenge – Drawn Together with Surface!
Over the next 2 weeks you have a chance to submit a three panel drawing of a radical transformation of yourself or a fictional character. Any style is game, just make it fit within the three panel template – you can find that here.
The three grand prize winners will be featured as a billboard on DeviantART and Motherboard’s websites. They will be flown to the studios of Jasper Wong, Jordan Crane, and Dash Shaw for a day-long internship where they will work together to create a new piece of art using their new Surface Pro 3s. Oh, and they will also win $1000!
For inspiration, check out what Dash, Jasper, and Jordan have created:
