“Name the greatest of all inventors. Accident.”
Mark Twain recognised the power of accidental discoveries, and this week’s Lumia Instagramer, Keerthy Shunmugarajan, does too. Keerthy, who lives in Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India, tells us that signing up for an Instagram account was actually an accident, but one which led to a whole new world of Lumia magic for her. She decided to give it a try and quickly discovered the miracles of manual settings, turning both her daughter and Mother Nature into supermodels. Join us as marvel at her photos and talk with her about her love for Lumia, life and her little lady.
Which Lumia do you have and what do you like most about it?
I am an avid Nokia lover for its robustness and I use my Lumia 720 to shoot anything that inspires me. What I love most about my Lumia is the crisp Zeiss lens and also the full manual controls that let me capture images like a pro.
Where do you shoot most of your photos and what sort of photos do you like to take best?
I mostly shoot indoors and macros but I also shoot outdoors whenever the opportunity provides itself.
What are your top tips for taking Instagram photos on your Lumia?
I am still a novice to give tips but I would encourage Lumians to use the manual setting for best results. There are no hard and fast rules for taking photos. Click them whenever you can and you’ll be glad that you captured those moments. Do tweak the settings and compare the results, you will get amazing photographs.
Which five Lumia instagramers do you recommend everyone to follow?
I know you, and the Connects team, have already done a fantastic job showcasing some of the best Instagramers, but I would suggest visiting these people’s profiles:
@amw_tentwenty
@shbhm111
@nolie_ocoy820
@mypankaj
@rahrarussel
What are your favourite photos you’ve taken on your Lumia?

I learnt the controls of the camera and learnt how to take bokeh shots with natural lighting.

The Ant having a watermelon fiesta. I love the vivid colours.

Capturing right moments – chickens playing hide and seek.

Drop of milk dispersing in liquid.

I mistook the water droplets for crystals.

Macro of a fly searching for treasure inside the Millets. One of my favourite Macros!

Just after the rain I was lucky enough to shoot the droplets. I used flash lights for extra lighting and they turned out to be too good.

Macro of a Black Nightshade flower.

Silhouette of the dad and daughter at the beach. Trying the silhouette shots early in the morning at the beach.

Twilight effect at the beach.

Experimenting with indoor Puddle of the chili.

Parachuting at the beach.

DJ (Droplets Jockey) on the cd floor.

Action shot. The swimmer was carried by the dolphin below the water. As it had natural daylight, I had good control for shutter speed.
We’re very happy about Keerthy’s accidental Instagram signup and we hope you are too! If so, be sure to follow her on Instagram for more magical photos.
