Lumia 730 and Lumia 735: capture more, share more

What is it about the front-facing camera on the Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 that makes it so good? Is it that this camera has a 5-megapixel sensor? Well, yes, but there’s more.

Not content with cramming in a bigger sensor, we have utilised a wide-angle camera, capable of capturing much, much more.

“We wanted to create a phone with a front-facing camera that delivered the same results as any main camera. We used a 5MP sensor with a big pixel size, developed super wide optics design and bent some laws of physics to make it fit to the product without any compromises, ” tells Juha Alakarhu, Microsoft’s imaging expert.

But what does this mean?

In reality, it means that the photo you capture with this front-facing camera will have more in it. More scenery, more detail, more you – more everything.

During Skype calls you can share more of your surroundings, providing more context to those long-distance catch-ups. And, if there’s a group of you joining the call, nobody will be left out.

Of course, the front-facing camera is also great for taking selfies – the art of extending one arm and taking a photo of yourself.

With a focal length of 24mm, the Full HD 5 megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera captures more with ease.

And then we have this one, taken by Chris Weber, CVP for Device Sales, which he captured live on stage during the Microsoft press conference in Berlin.

What will you use the front-facing camera for more, those important Skype calls or the occasional selfie?
