Thrill Shooters: Dust, Darkness and Lumia

In the latest Red Bull Photography adventure, extreme sports photographer Predrag Vučković, shows us his BMX W2D project.

In the latest Red Bull Photography adventure, extreme sports photographer Predrag Vučković, shows us his BMX W2D project.

“My aim was to capture photos of BMX rider Varo Hernandez in a flour environment,” explains Predrag.

And he did just that, spectacularly so, using a Lumia 1020 and Profoto studio lights.

“Our location was specially built for this purpose. For me as a professional photographer, [it] was surprising how Nokia managed [the] quality of the captured DNG files,” Pedrag added.

The result was amazing, as you can see.”

As the bike wheel spins and bunny-hops into the air and through white plumes of flour, Predrag and the Lumia 1020 capture the action.

As you’d expect, using flour in a photo shoot can get messy. Not just for Varo on the bike, but for Predrag, too, who went to great lengths to get the perfect shot – including lying down in mounds of flour.
