New #Lumiatips Vine: Find My Phone

Check out this new Vine video for a six-second primer on Microsoft’s “Find My Phone” feature.

If you’ve ever had the misfortune to lose your Lumia or, even worse, have it stolen, we bet that you promised that you’d never lose track of it again.

Instead of attaching a leash or chain to your smartphone (unless you’re a biker), use the handy “Find My Phone” feature, available for Windows Phone 8 and above.

Now that’s a ring you’ll be happy to answer!

You can set up your Lumia to ring or lock so no one else will be able to use it. You can also trigger “erase,” the nuclear option if you’re sure your Lumia is gone forever. But we hope you don’t have to do that!

While you’re setting up “Find My Phone,” be sure to activate this feature: “Save my phone’s location periodically and before the battery runs out to make it easier to find.”

That way, even if your Lumia runs out of juice, the phone’s last known position will be stored in the Cloud, making it easier to find.

And here’s one more tip: At home, to make sure I don’t misplace my Lumia–like between the sofa cushions or in our bread box (this has actually happened), I always stash my smartphone, wallet and keys in the same place–on the nightstand next to my bed.

Have you ever used the “Find My Phone” feature? Better yet, do you have any #Lumiatips you’d like to add?

Record them on Vine (like Aakash006sharma has done here) and share them in the comments section. We’d love to see them!
