Own a classic Nokia? Come see what’s in Store…

While there have been lots of changes afoot at the Microsoft Phones division, one thing is for sure – there are still plenty of people who love a classic Nokia phone.

And if you own one of these handsets, you probably want to keep downloading great apps, games and other content to keep you entertained.

There’s good news in store for you. Starting in Q1 2015, Opera Software will extend its Opera Mobile Store to work with even more Nokia phones, including those that run Series 40, Series 60, Symbian, Asha and Nokia X software. Nokia Store will close shortly after, but with a solid successor.

Opera Mobile Store is one of the top app stores in the world, with more than 300,000 apps and games, available across 13 content categories. It’s popular, too – with about 200 million unique monthly users, hailing from 196 regions around the world.

While this means saying “farewell” to Nokia Store when the transition to Opera Mobile Store is completed in the first half of 2015, it also means people can continue to load up on great apps for their classic Nokia phones.

There’s nothing you need to do now: Nokia Store will work as it always has on your phone, and we’ll give people plenty of information before the changeover.

It’s great news for developers as well: we’ll be rolling out information on how they can join the Opera Mobile Store and republish their apps very soon.

Lastly, if you’re ready for an upgrade from your classic Nokia, don’t forget that there’s also a great line-up of affordable Microsoft Lumias, including the recently announced Lumia 535.
