Lumia Conversations readers’ best Microsoft made-apps of 2014

At the start of December, we turned to the ultimate authority to discover the best Microsoft-made app of 2014.

We are, of course, talking about you, our Lumia-loving, apptastic community. As we know from previous polls, people love to share their opinions at the “ballot box” and this occasion was no different. Nearly 2000 of you caste your vote and now it’s time to reveal the results. Here, then, are your top three in reverse order. Drum roll please!

3rd place: Files 15%

If you want to get organized and stay that way, give Files a try. This file management app helps you to keep track of all of your files, letting you create folders, browse, search your documents quickly and efficiently.

What you said: “I vote for Files just because it has made my life soooo much easier.” Tilda Arnell

2nd place: Office Lens 31%

Office Lens is a must-have app for students, office workers, or anyone that wants to be able to quickly digitize information on whiteboards, Post-its, receipts, or any type of document. In other words, it’s like having a scanner in your pocket. Digitized information is searchable, and can be saved to OneNote.

1st place: MovieCreator Beta 40%

Who doesn’t secretly want to be a filmmaker? Our inner movie directors certainly perked up with the release of Movie Creator Beta. This app lets you combine videos, photos, music and cinemagraphs (our favourite bit) into movies to share with friends anywhere. The app is super easy and quick to use, too, with the film making process divided into four simple steps.

What you said: “Had to go MovieCreator even if it is in Beta still. Been waiting for an app like this for ages and it does a great job.” Elliott CL

There you have it. You, the people, have spoken. The winner, by a pretty clear majority, is MovieCreator. Despite being huge fans of the other two listed, we think it’s a worthy winner. But the million dollar question is, do you? Let us know in the comments below.
