Remotely take selfies using Treasure Tag
Leave something behind and the attached Treasure Tag will alert you. Now, it can also be used as a remote shutter for taking photos.
Treasure Tag is a small accessory for your Lumia that you can attach to your keys, bag, wallet or other, and it will alert you if your valuables become separated. Read more here.
Thanks to an update to the Lumia Selfie app, you can now use the Treasure Tag (WS-2) as a remote shutter, too.
Once you’ve installed or updated the Lumia Selfie app, simply open the app and the app will automatically detect if a connected Treasure Tag is in range (using BT LE). A press of a button on the tag will then trigger the camera on your Lumia.
There are many scenarios where you might need a remote shutter, but here’s a couple:
If you’re taking a large group selfie e.g. with the Lumia 730, Lumia 735 or Lumia 535 that all come with a wide-angle 5MP front-facing camera, just prop your phone against something, stand it up, or stick it on a tripod and when you’re all lined up, press the button on the Treasure Tag to take the shot.
Alternatively, you may want zero movement when trying to take a very clear photo. Pressing the on-screen shutter key or the hardware key always introduces a little bit of camera shake. This remote shutter function takes away any camera shake and helps you produce crisp and clear images.
Further to the Lumia Selfie update, the Treasure Tag app has also been updated to introduce quiet modes. When you are in a location or area where you don’t want to be alerted, you can set up quiet modes (defined by Wi-Fi networks) so that you won’t be getting any alerts of your belonging becoming separated when you are within this area e.g. when at home.
Treasure Tag comes in four different colors: cyan, yellow, white and black and has a recommended retail price of €24,90 ($29.90). See full list of compatible devices in the Treasure Tag app.
