Lumia Denim Update: Merge and forward multiple SMS

The Lumia Denim update brings with it unique enhancements and one of them is the ability to select multiple SMS messages for deletion and forwarding–making it easier to manage your text messages.

There are times when we need to share multiple messages in one batch with another person. I have faced this situation and I am sure you have, too.

Thanks to the Lumia Denim update, you can now forward multiple SMS to one or many contacts with just a flick of your finger.

Prior to Lumia Denim, you had the option of deleting individual SMS in one go, but not multiple SMS in a threaded conversation–until now.

Here’s how to easily share multiple messages:

  • Tap the message or the SMS icon.
  • Tap any SMS that has multiple threads or has more than one SMS message that you wish to share.
  • Next, select the button on the bottom of the screen and choose “select messages” from the menu bar.
  • This will add checkboxes next to each of the SMS received.
  • Select the messages you wish to add.
  • Now tap the + (plus) button. This will create a new SMS with all the messages you selected, thereby easily merging and forwarding multiple messages at once.
  • Voila, you’re done! Just enter a phone number or contact in the To line, and tap Send.

In a similar fashion, here’s how to delete multiple messages in a thread:

  • Tap the message or the SMS icon.
  • Tap any SMS that has multiple threads or has more than one SMS message that you wish to delete.
  • Next, select the button on the bottom of the screen and choose “select messages” from the menu bar.
  • This will add checkboxes next to each of the SMS received.
  • Select the messages you wish to delete.
  • Now tap the “bin” button.
  • A window will pop up asking if you wish to delete the selected messages.
  • Select “delete” and you have removed all the junk texts in one go.
