Windows 10 is coming to Surface!

Written By published July 29, 2015

My first role at Microsoft was helping partners get ready for Windows 95. I had such a good time, I’m still here 20 years later. And I still get particularly excited for great, new Windows releases and going around and upgrading all my PCs.

Today, I get to do that with my Surfaces and so do you!

Microsoft has now made Windows 10 available in 190 countries. This is a very big day for us Surface fans. Windows 10 is beautiful and it’s going to make your Surface more personal, more productive, and even more secure. The things that have always made Surface unique as both a laptop replacement and a powerful tablet get even better in Windows 10 – from using the pen in the new Microsoft Edge browser to seamlessly moving between tablet and desktop mode with a feature called Continuum.

Win10 Start

Many of you are Windows Insiders and have already installed and are running pre-release builds of Windows 10. We appreciate your feedback! Windows 10 will be available as a free upgrade* for people running genuine Windows 8.1 on Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface Pro 3, and Surface 3 devices, and there are details on how to upgrade in Terry Myerson’s post on the Windows blog today.

We’re incredibly proud of the work the Windows team has done and know you’re going to love what it means for your Surface!
