If you’re a college or university student, you’ve been hitting the books hard this fall semester. You may already be using the Office suite and other productivity apps to help you.

But you can also use Cortana to help you make the most out of your college experience–whether you’re in your dorm room, in class, or out and about.

Hola, Bonjour, Ni hao: Cortana can help you study for your French 101 mid-term exam via powerful translation technology with the help of Microsoft Translator. The recently updated Translator app can decipher typed text, spoken words, and text in images in more than 40 languages.

Tip: Improve your vocabulary by pinning Translator onto your Lumia Start screen to get the Word of the Day.

Schedule reminders, appointments, even parties: No need to jot down reminders about Thursday night’s biology study session with your lab partner or that 7 a.m. yoga class at the campus wellness center. Instead, fire up Cortana and ask her to remind you and to schedule appointments in your Lumia’s native Calendar app.

Concerts, plays, and more: Cortana can update you on local events you may be interested in, from music concerts to sports events and more. Ask her what’s going on near you and she’ll give you all the details, including ticket pricing.
