First-person shooters have become the genre of choice for millions of gamers around the world, no matter the platform. Gameloft’s N.O.V.A.3 falls under that genre, and it’s now available on Nokia Lumia.

As a commander of the Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (N.O.V.A), you take control of the protagonist named Kal Wardin in order to do what all commanders in genres like this do; grab a space-gun and shoot your way out of trouble to save the universe.
There are two types of gameplay in N.O.V.A.3, campaign and multiplayer mode.
In campaign mode you see yourself crashing to planet Earth in a spaceship, which leaves you unarmed. Fortunately, the first thing you find is a gun, which is useful because almost immediately you’re faced with several enemies that need destroying.
Right from the off it’s fast paced action that leaves little time for you to stop and think about what’s going on. Just aim and fire and you can’t go wrong.
This single player mode takes you on 10 different levels starting with Earth, but will soon have you flying around the galaxy to other worlds defeating the enemy.
Several weapons are at hand, such as grenades, assault rifles and there’s even the chance to drive vehicles and take control a mech.
When it comes to multiplayer, here’s where you can pit yourself against all of those who want a piece of the action.
There are seven different multiplayer modes available, which include free-for-all and capture the flag, to name just a couple.
In some levels you can become allies with other players to help control whatever situation you find yourself in. To make sure you work as efficiently as possible, voice chat is also available.
As with all Xbox games, N.O.V.A.3 comes with 20 achievements to unlock in both campaign and multiplayer modes.
Once unlocked, these achievements will go towards your Xbox gamertag for you to compare and share with your gaming friends.
N.O.V.A.3 is available to download today for £5.49 / $6.99 and runs on Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones with 1GB RAM.
