Video: The evolution of Cortana

We recently caught up with Marcus Ash, program manager for Cortana, your virtual personal assistant available on Windows Phone 8.1.

In this video shot on location at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, he talks about the evolution of digital assistants.

Cortana signifies the next generation of what a true personal assistant is and can do.

“Personality really matters. People put a lot of emotional content into digital communications,” Marcus says in the video. “There’s just this expectation that Cortana will look and feel a little more human and have more interesting characteristics.”

Cortana succeeds–for instance, ask her to do an impersonation!
