Who’s your twin? The TwinsOrNot app will tell you.
Inspired by How-Old.net, a Microsoft developer creates a way to find your doppelganger on the Internet.
Do you look like a celebrity? Have you heard that someone could be your twin?
Let technology give you the answer with the free TwinsOrNot app for Windows Phone.
Enter any two facial photos into the TwinsOrNot app and it’ll compare the faces and provide you with a degree of likeness. You can upload photos directly from your Lumia or search for faces online using the built-in Bing integration.
TwinsOrNot is powered by Microsoft Project Oxford, an evolving portfolio of tools that allows developers to add intelligent solutions leveraging Microsoft’s powerful understanding of vision, speech, facial recognition, and language understanding. This learning technology makes it possible to detect patterns and even predict future behavior, outcomes, and trends.
The TwinsOrNot app is based on the website TwinsOrNot.net, which was built by Microsoft developer Mat Vellaso in a few hours. The idea for TwinsOrNot was inspired by How-Old.net, a website created by Microsoft researchers that analyzes the faces in photos and predicts their age and gender.
How can you help Microsoft create more cool apps that utilize Project Oxford?
We’re inviting Lumia users to help us improve the technology behind TwinsOrNot by allowing us to keep their photos. Images are stripped of identifying information, such as location, and are used to train and improve Microsoft’s computer vision and related services.
If you don’t allow us to keep your photos, no problem–uploaded images are kept only for the duration of the session and any associated data is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
