AUSTIN, TX, United States – Nokia’s Finnish Labs have moved to Texas for SXSW Interactive! Nokia is making a splash at this year’s SXSW Festival, with the unveiling of the Nokia Lab. Located at 2nd and Brazos, the three-domed structure is filled with some amazing treats for those who stop by.

Nokia’s theme in the Lab is centered around bringing the geekier aspects of Nokia Lumia phones front and center. Guests will be treated to Finnish-styled cocktails along with engaging displays about various aspects of the Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710.

Walking around the dome

Upon entry, Nokia Lab visitors see an innovative display that shows what makes the Carl Zeiss Lens so unique on the Nokia Lumia 900. Other displays show the quickness of taking a photo with the Lumia 900, in which a Nokia spokesperson will show you how you can snap a photo within 4 seconds of taking the phone out of your pocket!

On the lighter side, Lab visitors can play Lumia ping pong, featuring bright colored paddles in addition to fusball and the amazing sauna (flown in straight from Finland).

Visitors to the sauna can leave a Sauna Confessional and share their frustrations with their current smartphone.

Right next to the Sauna are some touch-enabled interactive displays enabling visitors to project amazingly beautiful pictures and animated displays onto the Lab’s dome roof.

Lastly – Nokia employees will be walking around with Lumia 800 and 900 devices and accessories to demo.

Entertaining Austin

Those who enter the Nokia Lab (which looks not unlike an igloo) won’t be left short for entertainment either. Tonight, as the Lab opens officially, DJ Hella Yella will rock the house. However, for the following nights, a mix of live entertainment and DJs will keep the party flowing.
