App Report: Fish, internships and PhotoSynth

This week’s App Report dives into the world of crazy fish, takes a look at how some students got internships by creating their own Nokia apps, and demos a brand new photo-stitch that will have you running to the Marketplace.

Amanda Dyar has been playing MonstaFish this week, and has shared her thoughts of the game over at Dread Central. It looks like she’s been spending more time than necessary trying to ‘remove the mutant fish polluting the water and clear the pool’. Looks like there are all sorts of levels and twists to navigate to earn Xbox LIVE achievements, so get blasting and hooking, and let us know how you get on.

University Challenge was more than a BBC TV show last week in Dubai, where students won a trip to the Nokia Research Centre in Helsinki, a cash prize and an internship at Nokia U.A.E. for coming up with BonAppetit. It was part of a program designed to help students learn how to apply their creative ideas into hard coding. ‘It was a fantastic opportunity for students to get real life experience in designing, developing and distributing a mobile app for consumers,’ said Praveen Prabhakaran, Head of Ecosystem and Developer Experience, Nokia Middle East.

Ali, a regular contributor to My Nokia Blog, has taken a look at the new PhotoSynth app on his Nokia Lumia 800. Capturing a 360° panorama of his (very windy) surroundings, Ali demonstrates how the app automatically snaps the next photo in the series when you pivot. On the back of this video, I downloaded the app, and I’ll share some panoramas next time. For now, here’s the one Ali snapped, and the video:
