GIVEAWAY: Survive BlogHer with a Sony VAIO SA and a Samsung Focus

To be frank, I’m a little bit scared of BlogHer (the female-centric blogging conference of the year): the hype, the people, and the sheer amount of energy. It’s a good thing then that Windows is grabbing a place by the pool. We’ll be lounging in cabanas (read: meeting with lots of bloggers) and going on sailing rides (read: introducing all the Windows Champions to each other). However, we don’t want to have all the fun ourselves. So, Windows whipped up a little package to give away to one deserving blogger!

We’ve partnered with the awesome folks at 5 Minutes for Mom to run a BlogHer Survival giveaway. It’s simple to win. Comment on her post telling us why you need a survival kit for BlogHer. Then join our weekly Tech Tuesday Live Twitter Chat from 12-1pm PT to learn tips and tricks from @5mintuesformom, @robynsworld and @mommygoggles. During the chat, ask questions and interact.

What do you win?

          SONY VAIO SA White

  • A Sony VAIO SA Windows 7 PC: this sleek, sexy, ultra-premium machine gets up to 15 hours of battery life, meaning that you can blog all day without ever having to charge it.
  • A Samsung Focus Windows Phone with 30 days of service (AT&T): this is a great phone and has a stellar camera for taking pictures. You can upload images to your PC and then blog about later. It’s simple, fast and easy.
  • A 50 minute Swedish massage treatment at a luxury San Diego spa, just moments from the conference venue.
  • Breakfast in bed at your hotel location in San Diego, up to a $50 value.

If that isn’t enough, here are a few free tips for everyone out there, even if you don’t win the prize package!

  • Don’t forget to watermark your images! We all take a lot of photos at conferences. You’ll be able to see some of mine on the Windows Facebook page or here on our blog. Yet, bloggers often forget that if your images aren’t watermarked, other people can use them at will for whatever they want. Take a few minutes and learn the simple way to watermark images that saves you time and loads of energy in this blog post.
  • Bring a great camera: If you find yourself taking more than the occasional snapshot on your phone, get a camera that can really do the job but doesn’t break your back as you lug it around. The Sony WX5 camera is a great point and shoot that performs much like a high-end SLR but with a slightly smaller sensor. Plus it’s great for HD video.
  • Bring a great laptop bag: We know that the conferences are a bit about showing off. It’s our chance and your chance to show everyone that there is a real person behind that blog, so we tend to dress up. I’ll kill myself in 5” heels, per the usual. The funny thing is that I always get more compliments on my laptop bag than anything I am wearing. I love this cool line from celeb designer Jonathan Adler. If you want to be my twin, get the Bargello (although, to be honest, that’d be a bit creepy). 😉

Finally, join our Tech Tuesday Live Twitter Chat on August 2nd from 12-1pm PT. We’ll draw the winner during the last 5 minutes so make sure to hang around. If you aren’t online then, we’ll award it to someone who is. Remember the hashtag is #win7tech and you’ll have to tweet @windows to be considered. Full terms and conditions here.

***Windows Champions are bloggers who are hand-selected to work with the Microsoft Windows. As part of this arrangement, they have been loaned a Windows 7 PC for the course of year and are given the opportunity to learn about Windows and Microsoft products.
