Last night, I got to hang out in a cool East Village penthouse with some of the most interesting bloggers, musicians, and influencers I have met in a very long time. Everyone was gathered for Artist#Talk, an event series in which celebrated music blogger Arjan from ArjanWrites.com interviews the hottest musicians in the industry. This time, Bay Area hiphop-pop-indie producers and artists The Cataracs took to the stage to talk about their history (filled with hilarious stories), their dream partnerships (Kayne and Brandon Flowers) and the new singles from their upcoming EP (like surreal All You with Waka Flocka Flame).
You may have seen their work recently with Dev, with Waka Flocka Flame and their biggest song to date “Like A G6.” (By the way, last night they shared that they recorded the hit “Like A G6” in just 20 minutes – wow.) The band members – Niles and David (who also go by Campa and Cyrano) – candidly shared how they create this music using a wide variety of influences from Brazilian beats, to the Bay Area music that was made famous by Tupac and others. They also create their music on an HP PC (running Windows obviously), due in large part to its Beats by Dre audio system and the fact that they use Acid software- a PC-only product. The guys were presented with HP ENVY Spectre PCs which we all drooled over – gorilla glass, light weight, fast processer. That’s hot.
We’ll be sharing a video of the event including the back stories on some of their new releases and I’ll update this post at that time (or go to Arjanwrites.com now and everyday for great music content and top news on the hottest bands including the Cataracs). In the meantime, enjoy a few of the photos below from behind the scenes and check out our Pinterest board. Stay tuned because we’ve got another great Artist#Talk coming up and the chance for a Super Fan out there to win entry to what promises to be an amazing evening. Maybe I’ll see you there!
