Check out the SmartGlass experience for Star Trek Into Darkness

Firing up your Xbox 360 and looking for a movie to watch this weekend? I highly recommend Star Trek Into Darkness – now available on Xbox Video in advance of its September 10th debut as a Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, DVD and On Demand title. I am a bit biased, however, because I’m a huge Star Trek fan. But it’s a fantastic movie for fans or non-fans! And you get an additional “perk” by watching the movie on your Xbox: SmartGlass.

If you have a Windows 8 device, you should open the SmartGlass app on your device (if you don’t have it, download it from the Windows Store) and connect to your console while watching Star Trek Into Darkness. You will get an amazing second-screen experience while watching the movie!

While watching the movie with SmartGlass on your Windows 8 device, you’ll be able to check out exclusive behind-the-scenes material, including FX scene peelers, concept art, etc., all time synced to the movie as it plays! You can also watch deleted scenes. And get this: when you tap or click to watch a deleted scene, it will pause the movie as it’s playing on your TV for you to watch the deleted scene on your device and once the deleted scene is done, the movie starts playing again.

Through SmartGlass, you can also participate in the “Starfleet Academy Challenge”, where it simulates Federation adventures – like battling Klingons – and test your Star Trek knowledge.

For more details, read this post from StarTrek.com!

And remember – you can download the official Star Trek app from the Windows Store today and the Windows Phone Store too for your Windows Phone!
