Asphalt 8: Airborne races to Windows and Windows Phone (UPDATED 1/21/2014)

Back in August, I provided a sneak peek at Gameloft’s Asphalt 8: Airborne racing game for Windows 8. Asphalt 8: Airborne is one of many new games Gameloft is bringing to Windows and Windows Phone. And today – Asphalt 8: Airborne is now available from the Windows Store for $1.99 (U.S.) and also available from the Windows Phone Store for $.99 (U.S.). UPDATE 1/21/2014: Asphalt 8: Airborne is available for FREE from the Windows Store and from the Windows Phone Store!

Asphalt 8: Airborne is powered by a brand-new physics engine that lets you race through tunnels, off bridges, down embankments, through town, and along the superhighway at high speed and performing dynamic, high-speed aerial stunts. To drive, you use your Windows device as the steering wheel. You turn your device to turn your car. And if you want a “speed boost”, you use your right thumb to tap the screen. You use your left thumb to stop and slide around corners too (I haven’t quite gotten the hang of this just yet as I keep slamming into walls…).The graphics are great and you get a fantastic soundtrack to race to. You can race in single-player Career mode in one of 47 luxury dream cars in 9 different locations, or dare up to 7 friends to race you in multi-player challenges.

Seriously, this game is fun. I had a blast giving it a try back in August and am excited to see the full featured game out today.

Get behind the wheel (your Windows device) and leave gravity in the dust! And check out the launch trailer to see the game in action:
