Skype 2.19 brings Cortana integration in Windows Phone 8.1

The Skype Team has released Skype 2.19 today for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1. This update includes some exciting new capabilities including increased language support from 19 to 51 languages, fast app resume, improved notifications and the ability to edit your last sent message.

However, Skype 2.19 has some new capabilities specific to Windows Phone 8.1. On a device running Windows Phone 8.1, Skype 2.19 brings Cortana integration with the ability for you to start Skype calls with Cortana. To start a Skype video or audio call, simple ask Cortana something like “Skype get Jean Luc Picard on the screen” and Cortana will launch a Skype call. Your Skype notifications will also appear in Action Center. Just swipe down from the top on your device running Windows Phone 8.1 to see all your latest notifications. If you don’t have Skype installed, you can download it here from the Windows Phone Store.
