“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
For most of us, it’s the first big question we get asked in school. Of course, we’re around seven years old, so no one holds us to the answers—Astronaut, Football Player, Painter of Sea Monsters. It’s our chance to think big in front of our peers, imagine how we want to achieve greatness, and fancifully express how we want to make our community—and our world—a better place. To honor this memorable moment, we went to a local elementary school for “Dream Big Picture Day.” Working with a group of 2nd-graders, we asked them this time-honored question and set up an event to commemorate the results.
As you can imagine, the results were funny, cute and absolutely brilliant. The students’ eyes lit up as they worked with our crew of film-makers, costumiers, photographers and stylists. In front of the camera they inspired every last adult in the room to keep intact their sense of wonder, and remind us all to do good while doing great things.
Kids today will grow up to be the doers of tomorrow. They’ll discover the next life-saving vaccine, teach the next generation to read and write, or even fight evil-doers in space. They’re capable of incredible things, so let’s empower them to keep dreaming. Let’s show them that their voices are heard. Let’s help them Upgrade Your World.
