My name is Kapil Bansal and I am the Senior Director of Mobile & Growth at 1-800-Flowers.com. My work is focused on taking new products live for the enterprise. At 1-800-Flowers.com, our goal is to service our loyal customer base and provide a rich medium for consumers and easy access to our services. Building our Windows 10 app on the Universal Windows Platform helps us reach that goal with a product that will work on devices of all form factors, from PCs to tablets, and mobile phones. 1-800-Flowers and the Microsoft team worked hand in hand to carve out an experience catered directly to the Windows 10 user. From start to finish we collaborated on design, UI, UX, features and functionality. Built on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) – this app can run on any Windows 10 device, from your phone to your tablet or PC.
UI (user interface) UX (user experience) built from the ground up - this makes the UI even more seamless bringing the mobile phone experience to the desktop.
Simplified and easy checkout – checkout has been built from the ground up, and is conceptually completely different from traditional web properties. The checkout hub has been reconfigured making it more suitable for users. From one screen, users are able to complete different parts of checkout such as billing details, shipping details, card message, etc.

Cortana support- you can now ask Cortana to do the work for you.
- Simply say: “Search for Christmas Collection” to get access to Christmas flowers and gifts.
- For quick access to flowers and gifts collections you can say, “Go to Birthdays”.
- To see your order history simply ask Cortana to “show last orders”.
Live Tile support – if you pin the app to your Start menu, Live Tiles will show you new products without even entering the app.
