ID@Xbox Gets Even Better at GDC 2016

The ID@Xbox program is back at the annual Game Developers Conference this week, for the third year in a row – and we’re going to be showing off some amazing independent games, and a number of exciting new features that grew directly out of developer feedback on the program.

Cross-network play is the big one for us this year. In addition to our cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play between Xbox Live and other multiplayer networks across console and PC, starting with Psyonix’s amazing Rocket League.

We’re also rolling out support for the open-source MonoGame framework, continuing to build on the early-access Xbox Game Preview Program (which currently includes awesome titles like ARK: Survival Evolved, The Long Dark, and Layers of Fear), and making sure that our independent developers continue to have a sustainable online marketplace for their games, across both Xbox One and Windows 10.

We’ll be showing off 40 different independent games at GDC 2016, both at our Media Showcase event and at the Microsoft Lobby Bar in Moscone South. Head over to Xbox Wire to read more about what’s in store for independent developers at GDC, straight from ID@Xbox director Chris Charla. It’s never been a better time to become an ID@Xbox developer!
