Softcard announces support for Windows Phone

Softcard is a joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon that brings together leading banks, payment networks, and merchants to create an open mobile payment and commerce system. As an app for your smartphone, you can pay with a tap of your phone, save money on purchases with special offers, and use store loyalty, membership and rewards cards. And Softcard has announced support for Windows Phone. The Softcard app is currently available for AT&T customers with Windows Phone devices and will be available for T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless customers with Windows Phone devices soon!

What the Softcard app does is take payment cards from banks like American Express, Chase and Wells Fargo as well as offers and loyalty cards and stores them electronically on your Windows Phone device allowing you to pay wirelessly using Near Field Communication (NFC).

Paying with your phone is super easy. Just open the Softcard app, enter your pin and select a payment card you want to use. Then hold the back of your smartphone over the “contactless” symbol on the payment terminal next to the cashier. You can use the Softcard app to pay anywhere contactless payments are accepted, which is over 200,000 locations in the U.S.

Please note: For the Softcard app to work on your Windows Phone device, it needs to have NFC and an enhanced SIM card from your carrier such as AT&T that stores and protects your payment and other sensitive payment information.
