Nokia Lumia 800 – 'surprisingly awesome'

Since the excitement of the Lumia unboxing gallery, it’s been a while since I highlighted all the cool things you guys are saying about the Nokia Lumia 800 – so I thought I’d rectify that with a nice little post all about you and your Lumia(s)…

I’ve nabbed the title of today’s post from a review by Keren Phillips on Social Media NZ. Keren starts off by telling us all that she finds ‘any kind of change difficult when it comes to my phone” and that despite this initial drawback, she was really blown away by this phone… From the hardware to the software, it’s beautifully designed and really, really easy to use.’

Highlights of the Lumia 800 for Keren include:

  • It comes with a low profile bumper case – HANDY
  • Facebook and Twitter interfaces
  • 3D driving maps
  • Microsoft office – turns out it’s actually pretty handy having Word on your phone
  • Pinning favourite contacts to the home screen for super fast calling

And she round off by saying that ‘from an overall standpoint, this phone is cool.’ You can’t get much better than that!

Mark Needham from startups.co.uk has similarly good things to say about the Lumia 800, remarking that ‘With its larger graphics and vibrant colours, the Lumia feels like an iPhone which has relaxed all that painfully controlled Steve Jobs minimalism and let things hang out. ‘ High praise indeed.

While notes that the Lumia is ‘a definite hit with reviewers’ in his review of online reviews (yes, really).

‘If online reviews are any indication, the new Lumia is a roaring success. Reviewers have waxed lyrically about the phone’s beautiful design, ease of use and impressive social networking capability.’

And lastly, I’d like to draw your attention to this nice little video from totallydubbed comparing the video and imaging capabilities of the Nokia Lumia 800 to the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000:

And that’s it from me today! What do you think of the Nokia Lumia 800? Do you agree with Keren, Mark, Richard and totallydubbed? You know where to find us @Nokia_Connects!
