Nokia Lumia gets updated!

Today the big news on Nokia Connects is that your shiny Nokia Lumia phone is being given a whole host of added features with its next update.

Lumia 900 and 610 users in USA and China can go to the Marketplace and download some of the new apps available this week. Depending where you’re from, you’ll see one or more from the following: Camera Extras, Contacts Share, Counters application and the Play to app. Lumia 800 and 710 users will be able to get these apps from the marketplace after updating your software, beginning 27 June. Putting it simply – all the apps will be available for the entire Lumia range in July, for everyone, everywhere.

With Camera Extras you’ll get four new options when taking photos. You’ll have Self timer, for everybody who loves getting into the shot themselves and Action shot, so you can capture action or movement in your picture among other things.

In terms of utilities, the Counters app will let you monitor your phone and data usage so you can keep track of costs. Contact share, is a quick and easy way to share your contacts with your friends via SMS and email. Also, the “Play to” app is a beauty, it lets you broadcast pictures, music and videos wirelessly on other DLNA capable devices such as TVs, Blu-ray players and Music Systems.

A final treat for Lumia 800 and 710 users is internet sharing, so you’ll soon be able to share your internet connected over WiFi to other devices. This is accompanied by Flip-to Silence, which lets you quickly silence your phone by flipping it over.

This update is available via PC. To update your phone, you need the Zune PC app (Windows) or Windows Phone 7 Connector (Mac OS) on your computer. For more information on the update and all of the cool new features take a look at Nokia Conversations.
