To make discovering great apps and games amongst the 170,000+ currently available on the Windows Phone Store easier and more fun, Nokia has created App Social to help bring relevant apps to the forefront by way of curated collections – available for Nokia Lumia running Windows Phone 8.

Many of us look to the people we trust for guidance, whether they are friends, family, or familiar brands.
By creating app lists based on your experiences with an apps or game, you’re able to share with your friends the best content from Windows Phone Store, with direct links to each individual item in your list.
You may notice that several of your favourite apps fit into one category. Take our recent best imaging apps for the Nokia Lumia 1020 post, for example. We’ve created a ”The best Nokia Lumia 1020 imaging apps‘ collection using App Social for all to see and directly download the apps from there, if they so wish.
Whenever you create a list, or collection, you give it a name and add a relevant image that might make it easier for people to find it amongst other lists.
Once you’ve shared your app list with others, you can go in at a later date and add more apps or games, or delete existing ones, to include new favourites and evolve with your tastes. You can follow other App Social members, including Nokia, and share your curated lists with them. In turn, every time your friends create an app/game list, they’ll share it with you.
If you like what your friends are sharing with you, you can give it a ‘thanks’. A ‘thanks’ works the same way as a vote, or a thumbs up to show your gratitude. You can also re-share that list to your followers, if you’re especially pleased with the content.
App Social also incorporates a leader board displaying the most popular – most ‘thanked’ – lists within the community. The more ‘thanks’ your lists receive, the higher in the charts you’ll rise. The leader board adds an element of friendly competition while also showing the most shared and valued apps or games.
Lists can be pinned as a tile to your Start screen so you’re never far away from a new, recommended app.
App Social helps to solve this issue by making it possible for developers to create their own list, marketing their brand and sharing their app portfolio with consumers! Apps with great quality and star ratings have the opportunity to be spotlighted and featured by App Social.
