Nokia Lumia joins World Storytelling Day
Today marks the annual celebration of storytelling. This year Nokia Lumia is getting in on the act.
Celebrated on the same day each year in countries around the globe, World Storytelling Day encourages folks to share and listen to stories in as many different languages and with as many new people as possible, at events and online meet-ups. The idea is to further storytelling as an art form.
It’s quite lovely, if you ask us.
However, your participation in #WSD14 doesn’t have to revolve solely around your oratory skills…
We don’t need to tell you that your Nokia Lumia contains a unique Storyteller app, which can turn your photos or videos of an event into an engaging narrative, for personal enjoyment and the purposes of sharing with others.
Using the Storyteller app, now available for all Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8 and the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet, helps users form timelines based on time and location and even shows where events took place on HERE Maps.
If you take a lot of pictures in a day, Storyteller will map out embellish your account as you regale the story to friends and family on World Storytelling Day.
Beyond this wondrous app and its finely tuned algorithms geared towards for narrative creation and enhancement, your Lumia has several other tools at its disposal.
Want your story to reach a potential audience of millions around the globe? Why not shoot a video in high definition, upload it to YouTube and then share with Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #WSD14?
If you have a Lumia 2520 tablet, make use of the Video Director editing app to give your story further gloss and gravitas. The possibilities are truly endless.
The theme for this year’s World Storytelling Day is Dragons and Monsters. As such we recommend downloading a host of fantastical books from the Amazon Kindle store in order to provide some inspiration for your own tales and to get those creative juices flowing.

What’s it about? I’m sure when lots of people hear the words ‘Game of Thrones’ they think of the hugely popular HBO series. And why not, it’s a fantastic show. However, that’s all based on the work of George R. R. Martin and his first book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series – A Game of Thrones.
Set in a time before our own, transport yourself into a world of Kings, treachery, alliances and dragons. Packed with action of a by-gone age, this book keeps you enthralled. Well recommended!

What’s it about? As the title implies, you are going to be taken on the adventure of a blue bear, where you will learn the intricate details about half of his life (apparently, blue bears have 27 lives altogether).
Along the way, he encounters monsters, witches, vampires and various obstacles that would surely leave your bravest warrior trembling in his boots. The book is funny, clever, and utterly engrossing.
