In our recent #LumiaChallenge, we asked you to take us on a journey and share your exciting adventures through the magic of photography. Needless to say, our amazing community gave us a serious case of wanderlust. In fact, it’s been a tough couple of weeks with all us of daydreaming about hopping on a plane and heading to some exotic locale. However, after much deliberation, we’ve finally decided on our winner and runners-up.
The challenge took place June 23rd — July 7th, with entries being shared on Twitter and Instagram using #LumiaChallenge. We’d like to thank each and every adventurer who participated — your photos truly captured the whirlwind feeling of excitement and anticipation that comes before, during and after a trip. Six entries in particular gave us the travel bug. So read on to find out who our 5 runners-up and our one and only winner are. Bon voyage!
The Runners-up
Sri Nair
If you’ve ever tried to snap a photo from a vehicle, you know it’s no easy task. But Sri Nair managed to do just that, taking this impressive shot of a well-balanced goat while on the move. We love everything about this photo. The fact that it was also taken whilst on the go perfectly sums up the talent demonstrated in this month’s #LumiaChallenge.
Rich May
You know those butterflies of excitement you get in your belly when a plane takes off? We definitely felt it when we saw Rich May’s entry. His image of a plane taking off demonstrates brilliant use of the action shot while showing the early stages of a journey. In our opinion, it is one of the most important and thrilling parts of a journey as you never know what discoveries are waiting ahead.
Antonis
This image by Antonis is a beautiful representation of how we move from one adventure to the next, leaving one fantastic destination behind as you continue your journey onwards. Accompanied by a Terry Pratchett quote that epitomises everything the #LumiaChallenge: Journeys is about, we love how Antonis’ entry captures that bittersweet feeling that happens in the moments between journeys.

Dan Christer Gadian
Journeys are all about freedom, and we think this image by Dan Christer Gadian truly captures the often overwhelming feeling of freedom that makes an adventure so special. In this photo, the subject is embracing the freedom that the waterfall represents. We loved the symbolism and thought that it clearly deserved a runners-up position.
Paul
Decisions, decisions. We’re all faced with tough decisions throughout our lives, and journeys are no exception. In fact, sometimes it’s even tougher to make decisions during our adventures. Paul’s image captures the decisions that we often face while on the hunt for excitement. There are so many paths to take — which one will you follow?
The winner
Tim Riches
Tim’s photo stood out from the other entries for a number of reasons. Not only does it demonstrate an amazing use of double exposure using the app Camera360, but we love the sheer amount of creativity and talent that Tim put into it. We think that it perfectly encapsulates the feelings of anticipation, hope, and wonder that are what make a journey so fulfilling.
