Last week, we asked you to help us choose the best photo from our recent Alaskan adventure. Here are the winners of a Microsoft Lumia 640 XL, Microsoft Band, and Surface 3!
The magical photos taken during our journey north to the snow-capped wilderness of Alaska struck a chord with Conversations readers.
Many of you had very personal reactions to the pictures snapped by our small group of adventurers using the 13MP Microsoft Lumia 640 XL. You also shared your feelings about these special moments in our comment section and cast your votes for best photo.
Without further ado, the winner of best photo taken during our Alaskan adventure is….
Virginie Pichet, who earned 22 percent of the total vote with her candid photo of a bear resting by the side of a scenic river.
Thank you, Virginie, for taking this exquisite photo!
And now, we proudly announce the Conversations readers who won a Lumia 640 XL, Microsoft Band, and Surface 3 (4G LTE).
The winner of the Lumia 640 XL is:
Ali: “My choice is the fourth photo taken by Gianni Jaccoma. This photo gives me a feeling, a different feeling about how we should live a life.
When I look at this, I see a lot of life and happiness that inspires me to be more active, hopeful, and DO more to live a life, so much happier and productive than ever.”
The winner of the Microsoft Band is:
Elliot Lye: “Had to vote for Daniel Bader here, an absolutely amazing shot. It just feels calm, peaceful, and majestic. There’s an amazing range in the tones of blue, and the different shades help pick out the amazing amount of detail with the snowy landscape and give it a rugged feel.
In the centre against the shadows, there appears to be snow or water thrown into mid-air showing the power of nature and making for a dynamic shot. The rippling water almost leads you from the bottom of the picture to the looming, impressive sight in the middle, sandwiched between the serenity of the water and the sky.”
The winner of the Surface 3 (4G LTE) is:
Chintan Gohel: “I’ve voted for Virginie Pichet and for many reasons. For sure the photo is amazing, not only because she was able to get so close to the brown bear, but because there is amazing scenery behind the bear. The bear draws attention to its majesty, but also pushes the viewer to look at the majesty of the background where you see a lake and a mountain.
She has not only captured a moment in time, but something for us to think about. Is the bear just lying down to warm up or is the bear there for a deeper reason?
The photo shows the harmony between animal life and the planet, between nature and geology, between beauty and fearsome strength, between fluidity and immovability.
An amazing photo, worth any prize in any competition.”
Congratulations to all those who won; we’ll email you shortly. Thank you again to everyone who voted and commented.
