Windows App Studio Beta adds support for Instagram Search, Microsoft Advertising and more

Windows App Studio Beta launched 9 months ago and just crossed the 1 million user mark. Fans of all skill levels are creating apps online and watching their creations come to life on both Windows and Windows Phone. We’re celebrating today by releasing a few new features including:

  • Instagram Search: You can now display Instagram photos by hashtag search. For example, are you creating an app for a conference? Just add the Instagram data source with the search term (e.g. #2015Conference)
  • Add Microsoft Advertising to earn money with your apps: On the Publish Info page, you’ll notice that you can enable the Microsoft Advertising client.  All you have to do is enter the Application ID and Ad Unit ID that you’ll get when you create a Windows or Windows Phone ad unit in Microsoft pubCenter.

We’ve also added some guidance on using the Windows App Certification Kit to give your apps a better chance of passing certification on the first attempt under the “new features” section.

Your stories continue to inspire us, from teachers using the App Studio Curriculum to inspire students to consider a career in Computer Science, to small business owners connecting with their customers, to experienced developers extending App Studio beyond our imagination…we continue to be amazed.  We encourage you to try Windows App Studio Beta.
