To celebrate some Halloween fun this year, we’ve teamed up with the folks at Instructables.com to challenge you in showing off your ghoulishly talented costume-building skills with a movie making contest. All you need to do is document from start to finish, with video and photos, the process of building your Halloween costume. Then, use your PC and Windows Live Movie Maker (you can grab the new Movie Maker by downloading Windows Live Essentials 2011) to create a 30-second long movie from the video and or photos you took of constructing your costume and submit your entry, click here (you’ll need to create an Instructables.com account if you don’t have one)! And if you need tips for doing things in Movie Maker, check out this page.
One lucky grand-prize winner will receive the Ultimate Windows Live Movie Maker Package:
- Brand new iCore 5 Gateway laptop with Windows 7 and Windows Live Essentials – perfect for home movie making and keeping your digital media organized!
- A Pure Digital – Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder.
- 2-year Pro Membership to Instructables.com.
And 3 lucky runner ups will each receive a brand new Flip video camera and a 2-year Pro Membership for Instructables.com.
To get an idea on what kind of video to make here for this contest, we’ve done our own example. Watch “Buddy”, the Windows Live Messenger mascot, transform himself into a Ninja using photographs, video, and the help of Windows Live Movie Maker.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
UPDATE 10/25: Regarding winners – winners for the video category (which we’re sponsoring) will be judged by these two rules:
1. Use of Windows Live Movie Maker
2. Creativity in costume
