Deck-building isn’t confined to a card table in Hand of Fate for Windows 10. This mix of roguelike/action-RPG (role playing game) gameplay starts with a mysterious card dealer and a magical deck of cards, but quickly becomes an all-out battle across vast dungeon floors. The cards hold weapons, armor, artifacts, treasure, monsters, and more, along with the Encounters you’ll face. They’re played on the table, but when you reach Combat Encounters they fly into your hands as fully modeled 3D assets, arming you for battle.
And while the deck starts small, it evolves and grows into a huge set of cards you can choose from to suit your play style. Face cards offer extra abilities, such as creating a protective aura, making the Jack, Queen and King of each suit especially difficult to bring down. All in all, hundreds of Encounters, items and mysteries await you, along with unique deck-building mechanics that let you customize your own adventure.
The weapons–with names like Thunderstrike, Viking Blade, and Plunderer’s Cap–give you new abilities and can change the way you play, so every play-through is unique. When you’re faced with an Encounter, you can either fight or sneak away, but what seems like a good choice here isn’t always. Grab a mace filled with magical lightning, loot treasure guarded by reanimating skeletons, and face warriors with swords and muskets. And if Fate doesn’t have it in the cards for you, don’t give up. You can also replay the series of quests you face as many times as you want, just earn new cards, build your deck, then try for victory once again.
