Windows 10 Experiences Come to Life on New OEM Devices at Computex 2016

When it comes to unveiling the latest computing experiences in Asia, nothing beats Computex 2016, the continent’s largest IT trade show. This year’s conference has attracted more than 1,600 exhibitors from 29 countries, and the excitement is palpable. It’s a thrill to support our OEM partners as they announce their latest Windows 10 devices that will be in market soon.

There are plenty of new and innovative devices being announced from partners including Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and MSI. Whether you seek on-the-job productivity or downtime entertainment, there’s something just for you in every form factor and price range.

As we look at the device market opportunity with our partners, there are several categories where we continue to see growth and innovation: 2-in-1s, all-in-ones, gaming and internet of things (IoT).

We are pushing the boundaries of modern computing to bring exciting new software and services capabilities to these devices, and our partners are pushing the limits with fantastic new hardware that brings these new experiences to life in remarkable ways. The best way to capitalize on all the new capabilities in Windows 10 is to experience it on the latest devices that include touchscreens, pen capabilities for Windows Ink, camera and fingerprint readers that enable Windows Hello and mics that enable great interaction with Cortana.

Our partners have more amazing new products than we can possibly list, but here are just a few highlights from Computex 2016.

Acer reveals 2-in-1 notebooks

Let’s start with a pair of 2-in-1 notebooks designed for students and those looking for a good value-priced Windows 10 device. The 10-inch Acer Switch V 10 and Switch One 10 both offer productivity and entertainment in one smart device. Each consists of a full-featured notebook with a removable tablet for the best of both form factors. They feature the latest quad-core Intel Atom processors and multi-touch 10-inch screens. Four versatile modes offer great choices in how you use them, thanks to Continuum. The Switch V 10 and Switch One 10 extend Acer’s lineup of innovative 2-in-1 notebooks, which you can configure to fit your needs.

ASUS ZenBooks: Lots of features, little weight

The ZenBook 3 UX390 is the thinnest new entry at 0.47 inches and 2.0 pounds.

ASUS is making waves across its product lineup of notebooks, tablets and convertibles. In its premium notebook family, the ZenBook 3 UX390 is the thinnest new entry at 0.47 inches and 2.0 pounds. This device is a great example of how partners are implementing new hardware in their machines to get the most of the new capabilities in Windows 10. It features Cortana with voice and Windows Hello with fingerprint login, to combine beautiful design with extreme performance and state-of-the-art security.

The Transformer 3 Pro T303UA is a premium, powerful tablet with laptop productivity — keyboard included. This tablet is ultra-thin, at a mere 0.32 inches. Features include Active Pen, Windows Hello with infrared camera, Continuum, Cortana with voice, and an Intel Core i processor.

Meanwhile, the ZenBook Flip Convertible family welcomes the ZenBook Flip UX360. It’s a premium 2-in-1 convertible, available in gold and grey color options, with 12 hours of battery life. Its long list of features includes Continuum, Cortana with voice, Windows Hello with fingerprint login (UX360UA) and a USB Type-C port.

Big things are coming to the Dell Inspiron lineup, notably in the form of the world’s first 17-inch, 2-in-1 notebook — a star of the premium 7000 Series. The Inspiron systems unveiled at Computex prove there is still plenty of room for innovation in PC design and performance. These easy-to-use devices, also offered in the mainstream 5000 Series and the entry-level 3000 Series, deliver rich multimedia entertainment with brilliant displays and stunning audio. They also offer great value.

The Inspiron 17-inch 7000 2-in-1 offers brilliant design and high performance. A 360-degree hinge uses Continuum and a touchscreen to enable four usage modes. Its powerful Intel Core processor options make quick work of everyday tasks, and the notebook includes wide-viewing angle screens with FHD resolution, an infrared camera and a standard backlit keyboard. The infrared camera enables Windows Hello, allowing you to log in with just your face. A precision touchpad delivers precise pointing and gesture recognition. The 7000 PCs also feature Standard Waves MaxxAudio Pro audio software that enhances the multimedia experience.

HP gears up for gaming

The OMEN by HP Desktop combines cutting-edge design, optional liquid cooling and the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX and AMD graphics to deliver awesome performance.

It’s “game on” as HP introduces its OMEN by HP portfolio of two laptops and a desktop running on Windows 10. The OMEN by HP line features bold designs and aims to offer the best price-feature value in a gaming machine. With OMEN by HP, the company’s goal is to make the gamer experience more exciting with hardware configured to be at the forefront of virtual reality (VR) gaming. The OMEN by HP 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch diagonal gaming laptops boast powerful hardware and stunning 4K displays for a winning experience. They feature a Dragon Red backlit keyboard with OMEN by HP branding on the keyboard deck and on the black shadow mesh laptop lid. Plus, their dual-fan design keeps them running cool. The OMEN by HP Desktop combines cutting-edge design, optional liquid cooling and the latest NVIDIA GeForce GTX and AMD graphics to deliver awesome performance. It has the power and tuning for virtual reality games and lots of memory and storage to host a massive amount of large-format VR games and content.

Powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX980 graphics card, the Backpack PC weighs about 11 lbs and measures 11 by 15.7 by 5.9 in.

Why be tied to a desk when VR gaming heats up? MSI unveils its Backpack PC, a wearable that frees you to move naturally and explore the immersive world of VR. Connect your VR headset and enjoy greater gaming mobility. Powered by a high-end Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX980 graphics card, the Backpack PC weighs in at about 11 pounds and measures 11 by 15.7 by 5.9 inches.

Beyond the Backpack PC, MSI expands its lineup of powerful notebooks built for VR gaming.

The GT83 Titan SLI packs NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 SLI graphics, delivering a true-to-life gaming experience. The GT73 Titan SLI is the lightest mobile SLI with dual GTX980M SLI level graphics, and also supports single GTX980 top-tier mobile graphics, making it ideal for gamers looking for a smooth gameplay.

A Computex Best Choice Golden Award 2016 winner, the new GS63 Stealth Pro is a thin (0.7-inches), powerful gaming laptop. Its built-in Cooler Boost Trinity has five heat pipes and enhanced Whirlwind Blade fans to cool it quietly and efficiently. The Intel Core i7 6700HQ and NVIDIA GeForce GTX970M level graphics offer top performance for long gaming sessions. All these MSI PCs come with Windows 10, Xbox streaming capabilities and the ability to buying games like Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider direct from the Windows Store.

There are new ways to take devices that don’t have Windows Hello capabilities today and give them some modern aspects by adding two accessories from MouseComputer. The MouseComputer peripheral Camera has an infrared camera that can be plugged into the USB port and enables Windows Hello for Windows 10 devices. Same with the fingerprint reader – this small device just plugs into an open USB port to give great new security capabilities.

Porsche Design and a local OEM have collaborated to develop an exciting new 2-in-1 device. The device will support Windows 10 features like Windows Hello, Cortana and new Inking Features coming with the Windows Anniversary Update due later this summer. The device will come with a pen 13.3”screen, Intel processor, and hardware components. It will be available this Winter.

As you can see, the range of Windows 10 devices our OEM partners have delivered and the new experiences they enable are remarkable. These devices show how the Windows 10 platform enables innovative and diverse products across categories and price points for everyone from students or families to entrepreneurs and enterprises.

While we’ve focused here on consumer scenarios, Windows 10 meets the needs of modern businesses, with features to easily schedule updates and manage and secure devices, apps and data. Its built-in enterprise-grade security helps protect companies from small businesses to the largest enterprises and government organizations. Needless to say it works beautifully with Office 365 and the cloud.
